4 Tips for Preventing Future HVAC Problems

Posted on January 25th, 2016

Preventing Future HVAC ProblemsNot many people think about their HVAC system until there is a problem. The truth is, there are many ways that you can prevent future HVAC problems now with a few preventative measures. Western Heating & Air Conditioning always wants our clients to have their HVAC system working optimally. Here are a few simple tips you can follow to keep your system working its best year-round.

1. Regular Maintenance

Scheduling routine maintenance is essential to keeping your HVAC system running smoothly. Contact your local HVAC technician and schedule an annual check-up. Looking at your system and tuning up a few small things can help you to prevent a significant, costly repair.

2. Change Filters Regularly

Regularly changing your air filter is vital not only for indoor air quality but also to help your HVAC run more efficiently. Keeping your system clean and energy-efficient can prevent a premature HVAC replacement.

3. Keep an Ear Out

One of the first signs that you can have an HVAC issue in the future is a change in the sound of your system. While it may be subtle, it is nothing to shrug off. If you start hearing a different sound coming from your system, call a professional technician today.

4. Quality Parts and Service

When you do have a repair that needs to be made, you should always invest in quality parts and experienced service. That way, you know that your HVAC won’t have the same problem in the future. With the right part and installation, you are much less likely to experience the same issue in the future.

If you would like more information on how you can prevent future HVAC problems, contact Western Heating and Air Conditioning. Call us to schedule your annual HVAC checkup. We are happy to assist you today!

HVAC warning signsNo one wants to be left without a working HVAC system. Thankfully, most HVAC systems will give you quite a few warning signs before it completely fails. If you get routine HVAC maintenance by a licensed technician, these problems can be caught before they become a costly repair. It also helps if you are aware of the subtle signs so you can find them quickly. Here are the HVAC warning signs you should be on the look out for.

New Noises

If you have had your HVAC system for a while, you should know what it sounds like when it is in use. If you suddenly notice weird, different, or louder noises suddenly coming from your heating or cooling system, call an HVAC contractor as soon as possible. Those new noises could be a sign that something is broken or loose on your unit that needs repair.

Temperature Differences

If the temperature on your thermostat is not the temperature in your home, you may need to have your unit inspected. When an HVAC system needs repair, it may suddenly not be as efficient at cooling or heating your home. Don’t just set your thermostat cooler or warmer. Ignoring this problem will waste energy and may damage your HVAC system.

Increasing Energy Bills

If your energy bills have suddenly increased with no explanation, your HVAC system may be to blame. When an HVAC system stops being as energy efficient, your utility bills will start to reflect it.

Age

If your HVAC system is more than 15-20 years old, it may be time for a replacement. Older systems aren’t as efficient and may end up costing you more in the long run. If you aren’t sure which system would be best for your home, Western Heating and Air can assist you.

If your HVAC system is experiencing any of these warning signs, contact Western Heating and Air. Call us today for more information.

In 2015 Western Heating & Air Conditioning celebrated 20 years in business!  A lot has changed in 20 years…

Do you remember Rod and Carol Black? They founded Western Heating & Air Conditioning in 1995. Rod is an honest man and had built a great reputation for Western Heating & Air Conditioning. His wife Carol was meticulous at book-keeping and together they made a great team!

As we were contemplating the purchase of Western Heating and Air Conditioning, we saw first hand the honesty, the integrity, and love that Rod and Carol put into their business and their employees.  We knew it was a business we wanted to be a part of.  We purchased the company from Rod in 2007.  At that time he had 4 technicians and ran the business from his own home.  This was one busy man!

After purchasing Western Heating & Air Conditioning, our goal was to continue to provide amazing service, and carry on the legacy that had began with the Blacks.  During the last 8 years we have worked hard to help Western grow and build a stronger brand and a stronger team.

In 2015, Western celebrated it’s 20th anniversary!  Check out some of the fun changes that have happened:

Western2015

We now have 23 amazing team members… including installers, service and maintenance technicians, system advisers, as well as highly trained customer service representatives and managers.

Western relocated to a larger space in Orem in 2012 to accommodate our growing team.  We were honored to have Miss Orem, and the Mayor present at our ribbon cutting ceremony, as well as other dignitaries, members of the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce, and of course some of our favorite customers!

Western Heating 20th Anniversary Seal

You can see on our 20 year seal, that Western Heating has put into place our core values that our team lives by.

With all of these fun changes, Western has also shown a greater desire to improve customer service and customer satisfaction.  That’s why some things never change… like the fair pricing, the honesty and integrity of the company, and fact that Western strives to exceed customer expectations by providing a whole new level of comfort!

We feel very blessed to be part of the Utah Valley community, and we are excited to see where the next 20 years takes us!

Gas Furnace MaintenanceKeeping your furnace properly maintained is key to keeping it running properly. Of course, hiring a professional for everything can get expensive. There are several aspects of gas furnace maintenance that you can take care of yourself, and there are other things that you should leave to a pro. Here is a basic list of ways to keep your gas furnace maintained and who should perform them.

Inspect Your Furnace for Damage

One of the most important things you can do yourself is to keep an eye on your furnace. Inspect the outside of your furnace and look for any holes, cracks, or rust. If you find that your furnace is damaged, don’t turn it on. Call a professional right away. Running a damaged furnace can be incredibly dangerous.

Change Your Filter

Your filter will need to be replaced on a pretty regular basis when you run your heating during the cold season. Depending on how often you use it, you may need to replace your filter as often as every other month! As long as you know where your filter is located, you can do this yourself.

Clean and Check Inner Components

Depending on how handy you are, you may be able to do this yourself. If you feel uncomfortable about disassembling and reassembling the inner components of your furnace, you will want to contact a professional. Always remember to cut the power and gas to your furnace before working on it. Always wear protective gear including a face mask to prevent breathing in dust, rust, and soot.

If you are in need of professional gas furnace maintenance, don’t just call anyone! Call the experts you can trust at Western Heating and Air Conditioning. Call today to schedule your appointment with our trained technicians.
