One of the most stressful situations to be in is realizing that your furnace is broken late at night, the chill begins to set in, and you may be kicking yourself for not seeing the signs earlier. While Western Heating & Air Conditioning offers fast emergency furnace repair, we never want our customers to be caught by surprise. Here are a few warning signs that signal that you need furnace repair and service.
Your Furnace Is Getting Old
Like any home appliance, furnaces have a lifespan. Once a furnace starts pushing 20 years old, it may be time to replace it. Between 16 and 20 years old is the average time when furnaces start needing more service. To prevent a sudden breakdown, call a professional furnace technician for an inspection. They will be able to tell you if your furnace is able to last a few more years.
Utility Bills Increasing
If you notice a sudden spike in your utility bills, it may be your furnace. If your furnace is not working optimally, it may take more energy to get your home to a comfortable temperature.
Burner Flame Yellow
If you notice that your pilot light is burning yellow instead of blue, it is a sign of something that could be really wrong. In fact, a yellow flame is a sign of carbon monoxide leaking into your home. Make sure you have a functional carbon monoxide detector in your home and contact a repairman right away.
Strange Noises
If you suddenly start to hear your furnace making odd sounds, you shouldn’t ignore it. Instead, contact a furnace repair technician right away. Strange noises can mean there is something broken or loose in your furnace that needs attention.
If you notice any of the above warning signs, contact Western Heating & Air Conditioning today. We are happy to assist you!
